Holes attract falling objects. Sinkholes, whirlpools, and black holes are like that; they do not let anything escape and trap it inside. These holes can have a changing, imprecise shape or a defined one, transforming everything that passes through them into that shape.
In the same way, as with physical objects, the holes inside us attract our wandering thoughts and feelings; those that you do not even know what you are thinking or that happen unconsciously usually end up in these holes.
The problem is when the shape of those holes is pain, guilt, and longing, and they transform your feelings into that. That’s when you have to try to control and contain them. The holes are natural, but letting them grow and devour everything in their path is inconvenient.
