Beginnings should be simple. It is complicated enough to face the blank paper, the unknown, and the fear of doing it wrong. Yes, sometimes, despite seeming easy, it goes wrong the first time. Sometimes it is on us, but not always: blame doesn’t have to point neatly in one direction. And the result hurts the same; it can break you and make you bleed, whether or not it is something you have done.
You have to fight against that guilt and the fear that things will break and go wrong again. There are more opportunities and more options. Invariably, despite what we tell ourselves.
There is so much, much power in carry-on.
